Chiefs have punched their ticket to the $250,000 event after defeating Breakaway 3-0 in the grand final of the IEM Sydney Derby.

Four of the top five teams from ESL Australia and New Zealand Championship Season 8 squared off in the IEM Sydney Derby for the final spot at the 16-team event.

Breakaway defeated Genuine 2-0 in the semis while Chiefs took down Athletico with a 2-1 scoreline to advance to the best-of-five grand final.

Chiefs dominated the game from start to finish, kicking it off with a 16-10 victory on Inferno. Tyler "⁠tucks⁠" Reilly and company won 16-5 on Train and Mirage to finish off the series 3-0, qualifying for IEM Sydney 2019.

The $250,000 event will take place on April 30-May 5, culminating with the playoffs at the Qudos Bank Arena, where the winners will walk away with $100,000 in cash prizes.
